The Right Approach 

This lesson is taken from the Adult Piano Beginners Online Piano Course which is based around the Hey Presto! Piano Method Book. This short video is based on something a bit different and is not from my piano method book. Today, we are going to look at the first part of this most famous piece, Fur Elise, by Beethoven.

This Changes Everything

The time signature is so important as many beginner methods arrange this in 6/8 time which of course will stress the wrong beat of the bar and you will not be playing this Beethovens way!!

This is just a short explanation of how to consider the time signature and I hope you find this helpful. As I mention in the video this isn’t just about showing you the notes but about technique musicality and how to approach this well-known piece. In my piano course we go in to much greater depth and cover the first 22 bars ( the famous bit ). I demonstrate all the techniques needed to create the right sound and include alternative fingerings as well as wrist and arm movements to help you negotiate the keyboard fluidly.
